eFormulaCarNews.com has reported that over $3.5-million in prize funds is scheduled to be awarded in 2009. Edwards Motorsports can confirm that sources within the Atlantic Championship community have indicated that the prize fund for the upcoming 2009 season will feature both an extensive per race fund and a hefty champion's bonus.
It is believed that the winner of each 2009 Atlantic Championship race will receive $50,000 in prize money, with further money paid down to 10th place. In total, $1.5 million will be paid out in race prize money. Perhaps more importantly, the 2009 Atlantic Champion bonus will returm with the series champion being presented with a check for $2 million at the conclusion of the season. Unlike the previous champion's bonus, this is prize may be used by the driver to help fund his 2010 campaign in any race series worldwide.
In addition to the prize fund, the meeting also generated a lot of answers the teams had with regards to the 2009 season.
